No need to turn up to deliver the perfect pitch

As the Christmas bandwagon trundles along picking up momentum, Matt Evans of EweMove estate agents in Bordon shamelessly tapped into the seasonal spirit at thi week's BGN business networking meeting, in an attempt to win this week’s prize for best 60-second business pitch.

Matt celebrates Christmas "Ewe-charist" early

For his efforts, he merely received an honorary mention, putting him into the same networking purgatory as photocopier guru John Raeyen of Trio Systems.

A good business pitch goes a long way

Adding insult to injury, the prize went to Joe Goddard of Detect Fire and Security while he was still curled up in bed, being represented as per BGN policy by an able substitute who delivered Joe's handwritten pitch for him.

This shows that a good pitch is a good pitch and should be as easy to deliver by someone else as it is to understand by the audience.

The terrible admin price to pay for keeping it “Not for Profit”

As BGN is run along the lines of an anarcho-syndicalist commune, with executive powers delegated to a temporary chairman, we have to sit around once a month doing the admin stuff. It’s a small price for the committee members to pay for our independence and continued existence as an independent, not-for-profit business networking group.

Business opportunities and 3 guests

11 opportunities for business were passed among members, which is why we all get out of bed on a dark Wednesday morning and we were visited by Charlotte of Dale Carnegie Training, Paul from the Drain Doctor and Karen from the Liss Triangle Centre.
